Hare

Hare by Dan Baillie

My Dad was up visiting a few weeks ago and we were heading out in the car to take some pictures along the coast. Ten minutes into the journey we saw this hare sitting in a field. We stopped the car and grabbed our cameras. As we did it flattened itself in some longer grass. We crept up the side of the field trying to get a photograph, when all of a sudden and quite unexpectedly, the hare ran towards us and stopped about 8 feet from where we were standing. It sat and looked at us for a minute before running away again. Mad!

Dickie Wood

Dickie Wood by Dan Baillie

This was a magical moment as I left home one morning. I lack the dedication of the true landscape photographer. I have tried on occasion to get up at sunrise with the specific purpose of taking landscape photographs. More often than not when I have done so, it has either been raining or a very disappointing sky. So I am much more an opportunist landscape photographer and when this scene came my way I had to stop the car very quickly and capture it! It is still one of my favourite landscape shots and it came runner up for a Kodak award in a competition during 2010.
